The sessions are many, so our ideas might not jive with yours. But here’s some we like, and why we like em.

Our take: Directed by a dude from Sapient, so you know it’s got to be good. Plus there’s likely to be fun critiques.

What works and what doesn’t when it comes to selling social media to your boss or clients.

Our take: Being a champion of social media is a lot easier when you know how to appeal to the big cheese.

Oooh, That’s Clever! (Unnatural Experiments in Web Design) 3:30pm – A
Find inspiration in the ridiculous. See technological quirks as opportunities. Try something previously unheard of with your site design.

Our take: Title sold us – let’s hope it pays off with lots of great thinking for our clients.

At Zappos.com, Tony Hsieh has fostered a culture where extraordinary customer service is the norm. Hear him talk about how good deeds can help you leverage the power of your audience to massively extend your brand.

Our Take: Hey, isn’t he that zany Zappos guy? If Oprah thinks he’s worth being featured, he probably might have some interesting info for your little start-up.

A Hard Sell? Social Media & Your Boss – 3:30 – Room 5B
The panel will provide actionable steps to convince your boss of the value of Social Media. We’ll cover how to: become a champion, creative ways to recruit internal proponents (including lawyers), and gather & present compelling rationale.

Our Take: Social Media is not a black box, and this will help all of us find ways to pitch it as serious customer service and outreach.

Our Take: Funny name, but a great way to get engaged with your community and audiences.

Our Take: Writing blog entries these days seems like a chore most times. This panel will help us feel OK with that.

Our Take: Maybe this session will makes us all forget about that Alien induced atrocity of the summer and remember why we all fell in love with the mystic of Archaeology in the first place.

Porter Novelli along with Jeff Pulver, Randi Zuckerberg and Stacey Monk will hold a special event at Stubb’s Bar-B-Que.

Our take: Every agency does some non-profit work. Why not learn a few tips to make it even more successful.

Entrepreneurship in the Belly of the Beast- 11:30 - 18BCD
Small is beautiful at SXSW. From Getting Real to starting up, the ethos is largely anti-large corporation. This attitude overlooks one of the most satisfying professional accomplishments: doing your own thing while working for The Man. This presentation uses examples to offer strategies for making the corporation work for you.

Our Take: John Tolva (one of the presenters) is a great guy and a complete wiz. Anyone who’s sitting with him has to be top notch and this one looks to be a great session.

Our Take: Moonlighting with your side project can be a tiring and painful endeavor, so why not get reinvigorated with some advice from people who have pulled it off.

Our Take: SEO is a black box, but it doesn’t have to be.

ourpickBruce Sterling Session – 5:00 – A His state-of-the-cybersphere analyses are always a highlight of SXSW Interactive. Don’t miss what the veteran science fiction writer and industry pundit has to say about the wired world this year.

Our Take: Sterling’s sessions are always a highlight of conference. While it might be a bit on the right-brain/emotional side in comparison to most of the sessions, it will be a talking point for the rest of the day.

Our Take: We groan, but maybe we should pay attention?
