DO bring a coozie to keep your PBR cold
DON’T think that FREE beer at the music venues means mixed drinks, too.

DO hit the day shows – less people, more sun.
DON’T get mad if you can’t make it into a club at night. There are laws about dem dere capacities, dontcha know.

DO make a scheduled list of bands you want to see (hit Showlist Austin for a great overview)
DON’T wander aimlessly too much. Timing is everything if you want to see your new favorite band.

DO make sure you allow travel time to the next club. Ducking out on a set early is sometimes the best call to make the next band.
DON’T run around in the streets. It’s likely your skinny jeans don’t stretch that far anyway.

Don't go too tight. No one wants to see 'camel toe' or 'tiger paw'.

DO have your manners in your pocket with doormen. It helps to be nice.
DON’T pull out your weed and smoke it in the club. Despite what you hear, you’ll get busted.

DO tip your waitstaff and bartenders (duh).
DON’T be a dick. Tip the staff.

DO use sunscreen and bring your sunglasses.
DON’T expect to wear that bikini top and avoid a burn without lotion. But please, DO wear your bikini top. Everyone does it.

The artists are just like you, fans of music.

DO get familiar with the layout of the bars and music venues. You’ll be happy you did.
DON’T forget to ask Bob Mould (or any other super great musician you see) for a photo opp. They will likely oblige, and when else do you get to rub elbows in a small venue with these folks?

DO wear comfortable, rock out shoes.
DON’T forget how to shake your head and body. After all, you’re being entertained.

DO see some Austin bands while you’re here.
DON’T forget to brag to all your friends that you saw so and so in Austin in a small club before they made it big.
